PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Allen Iverson, fined by the Philadelphia 76ers for skipping a bowling event, said Friday the effects of medicine after a dental procedure made him a no-show.
He was fined an undisclosed amount for missing the event on Wednesday. He said the medicine "put me out" after having two abscessed teeth pulled. Iverson left practice Wednesday, complaining of fatigue.
Iverson said he was willing to accept the consequences of disappointing Sixers fans.
"I'm not too much worried about the fine as the fact I missed a team event," Iverson said. "That's the most important thing. But it's been bothering me since I had the teeth pulled."
Iverson, who leads the league in scoring with a 31.7 average, missed two games after having surgery on his teeth.
Iverson and Chris Webber both skipped last year's season-ending "Fan Appreciation Night." That led team president Billy King to suggest he would change the Sixers' culture this season.
King had to little to say Friday about Iverson's bowling absence.
"It's been addressed and handled," he said.
King said he had no plans to fill Shavlik Randolph's roster spot after the forward fractured and dislocated his ankle in Thursday's practice. Randolph underwent successful surgery Thursday night and was expected to miss up to four months.
