Sorry for the lack of updates everybody, it's been a busy past two months for me. As you probably already know, the Sixers lost their hold on a playoff spot and were eventually eliminated. It was sad to watch their last couple of games (see article below), including the final blow by the lowly Magic. Looking back to the beginning, a lot of people felt they were going to be contenders this year (myself included) - boy where we wrong. Lack of defense, no post presence, and questionable effort by certain team members made this a disastrous season for the Sixers. However, Iverson amazingly averaged one of his best statistical seasons - averaging 33.0 ppg (2nd in the league), 43 percent FG% and 7.6 assists -- all better numbers than when he led Philadelphia to the NBA Finals.
With their playoff hopes removed, and their last two games meaningless, A.I. and C-Webb added a little controversy by not showing up until tip-off on Fan Appreciation Night, pissing off Coach Cheeks and GM Billy King. This further added fuel to the flame for trade talks involving A.I. and C-Webb this coming off-season.
Has A.I. played his last season in a Sixers uniform? Possibly. A.I. has said over and over again that he wants to remain in Philadelphia, but at the same time his goal is to win a championship. Can he do it in Philly? Not with the make-up of this team. Tough decisions for GM Billy King; he has a group young talent (Igoudala, Dalembert, Korver), but also the two huge-ass contract superstars (A.I. and C-Webb)?. Trading C-Webb is a probably no-brainer, his contract is just not worth it. But can you trade Iverson - the main attraction, the franchise player who's given his sweat and blood for Philly for the past decade...
Don't forget to vote on the poll (do you think A.I. should get traded). Stay tuned here on A.I. Live for all the latest on the trade rumours and A.I. news during the off-season.
