This is a little series of my story,Player's Carner. This is where players who play the game gather up and talk about their experiences, how they got famous, and their good and bad times. We start about each player's first experience with the basketball.
Interveiwer:Well,i first wanna ask you is:When was the first time you picked up a basketball.Allen, you go first.
Allen Iverson:Well,it was when I was alittle kid. When I was 11 or so.I had just came home from school, and my mom told be she was going to take me to basketball practice. To tell ya the truth,I didn't really wanna go.I thought it was soft, you know?I was in the tough sports, like football, you know.I was crying all the way until I got there. Then I saw some of my friends from football practice.I started playing with them and I started enjoying the game.
Steve Francis:I was 7 at the time.Like you Allen,I was in sports like football. But then I went to a baksetball court in the park, started shooting, and then i was hooked.
Allen Iverson:Yeah,I basketball wan't my first interest.I had many like baseball and football.
Stephon Marbury:I remember when I was really young, like 3 years old.I lived in New York, where the roots of basketball are really strong.Streetball was really big there.I remember one time watching the teams played at Rucker Park.I remember going on the court after the game and just started shooting.and ever since then I was hooked.
Tracy Mcgrady:Ahh yes the good old days.*groups starts laughing*I was really young at the time, like 5 or 6 years old.I started dribbling the ball when I first discovered the game.It just grew on me naturally.
Vince Carter:I,like Stephon, was three too.I remember after school seeing basketball court. My uncle was there with me.He handed me the basketball and just started shooting, and veer since then like TMAC said,I just got hooked on it.
Steve Francis:I didn't really think about basketball being my career until middle school.I was still hooked on other things at the time. And things was really rough for me back then.
Allen Iverson:Yeah.Football was still my number one sport and will always be my number one sport.I still think about playing football till this day.But my mom good me stuck in this game.
Stephon Marbury:Well the game just grew on me,you know.Like i said, the roots of baksetball was really big in New Toek, and it still is till this day.
Kobe Bryant:Well for me it was the fact that my dad was a basketball player himself. So I would always think about playing the game. Then one day while I was in Phili in school I went on the court and just started shooting. And then I started practicing different shots to increase my skills. That's how I became the player that I am today.
Allen Iverson:(joking around)But I will always be the best player in Phili.Remember that.
