I know right. That's why i'm confused. Can u trade somebody EVEN if they have a year long contract with U? are do they have to be at the end of their contract, and a free agent?

Iverson Misses Practice in Denver
The unofficial second half to the 76ers season has begun on the wrong foot.
And they havent even played a game yet.
But they did practice, and Allen Iverson wasnt there.
One night after he was the Sixers only representative in the All-Star game in Los Angeles and one night before their road game against the Nuggets, Iverson failed to attend the teams practice at the Denver Athletic Club.
Iverson did contact Allen Lumpkin, who is the Sixers director of travel and team services, but head coach Chris Ford said that was not enough.
He should have been here, Ford told the Philadelphia Inquirer. I know hes en route to Denver. I fully expected everyone to be here.
We just told the guys that theres only one person that you have to contact, and thats me, and they have to contact me. No intermediaries.
Ford, who installed several new plays during the session, said he had yet to make a decision regarding a punishment for Iverson. But there will likely be one, even if it was just practice

he can get traded even though he signed the extended contract. the other team would have to be able to match the money. like alex rodriguez is going to be paid by his old team as well as the yankees in his trade. it's sorta complicated but it can be done. they have until feb. 19 to do something. we'll see. |

I wonder if Tawanna gets on to him about missing practice and stuff. Allen is starting to make me wonder... but I still got love for my boy though. I'd be cool if he moved to H*Town because I have relatives there I can visit often. And if he gets traded to Atl. that's where I'll be going to school next year so it's all gravvy!!
I really don't want him to be traded, but he's kinda makin that decision for himself. Ann needs to give him a good ol' fashion beat down. Or he can come down to Texas and I'll put a hurtin' on him!! NO QUESTIONS ASKED. J/K |

yeah i've read that article about ai missing practice, may be it got something to do with the statement (before) that since ayers was fired ai was no longer untouchable (something like that).
i guess the management never consulted the players regarding the matter first, and perhaps ai (if not for other reason) may have taken it personally. besides we all know practice is one thing ai doesn't really wanna talk about.
but if he's taking it personally...damn allen, what the hell is wrong with you???
about the trade, ai to houston, doesn't seem right though...may be milwaukee or minnesota |

According to B.K. the rumors of A.I. being traded to Houston are not true.
NBA | Van Horn is traded by Knicks; King: No Iverson deal in works
By Stephen A. Smith
INQUIRER SPORTS COLUMNIST
LOS ANGELES - On a day when rumors were swirling about Allen Iverson being dealt by the 76ers, another team in the Atlantic Division was making moves - the New York Knicks.
Desperate for a small forward who can shoot and a center to spell Dikembe Mutombo, the Knicks acquired two former Sixers - forward Tim Thomas and center Nazr Mohammed - in a three-way deal with Milwaukee and Atlanta. They sent forward Keith Van Horn, another former Sixer, to the Bucks.
The Hawks, who are conducting a fire sale, acquired center Michael Doleac from the Knicks and center Joel Przybilla from the Bucks. Each is in the last year of his contract. They also got a second-round pick from the Knicks for 2005.
"We're going for a championship," said Isiah Thomas, the Knicks' new president of basketball operations. "I said that's what we were shooting for from my first day on the job, and I'm not playing."
Apparently, neither is Billy King.
The Sixers' president and general manager was in Los Angeles over the weekend, enjoying the all-star festivities in the midst of speculation that Iverson, his team's five-time all-star guard, would be heading to Houston for Steve Francis, the Rockets' three-time all-star guard.
"That is totally untrue," King said last night. "There is no credence to that whatsoever. I have talked to numerous teams on numerous occasions about numerous players on our roster. Not one time have I talked about trading Allen Iverson."
The Sixers are believed to be in talks with Chicago about trading guard Aaron McKie to the Bulls for forward Jerome Williams. As recently as two weeks ago, the Sixers were talking about shipping point guard Eric Snow to Orlando for forward Juwan Howard and guard Gordan Giricek.
The NBA trading deadline is 6 p.m. Thursday.
King failed in his effort to ship Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson to Detroit a few weeks ago because Pistons president Joe Dumars wasn't interested in taking on an additional salary. Dumars is determined to re-sign forward Mehmet Okur in the off-season.
The Bucks pulled the trigger on the acquisition of Van Horn, who now has been traded four times, because they needed rebounding - one of the things they felt they weren't getting from Thomas.
As for the Hawks, their goal in the deal was obvious.
"We're looking to save our money for a better day," general manager Billy Knight said. "In trading away Nazr, we've created an additional $5 million in cap space. The bottom-line agenda is to create space to enable us to do what we need to do.
"We're paying people, but we're not winning games, so we feel the need to go in a different direction."
So a week after trading with Portland for forward Rasheed Wallace, who is in the last year of his contract, Atlanta swung yesterday's deal.
"And we're not finished," Knight said. |

I would rather AI leave the Sixers, they garbage anyway. And I wouldnt want to stay in a city that loves me when its good and wants me out when something goes bad. The Sixers are having a bad season and instead of blamin it on the coachin staff or some other players they point all the fingers at AI. And when things are goin good they give all the praise to AI. I think they put too much stress on the man. I'm sorry I dont care what yall think but a 1 man team cannot win a championship. And the Sixers is a 1 man team. And AI be makin me laugh by him sayin he thinks he gon win a championship there, unless they bring AI some help and I mean some GOOD YOUNG TALENTED help, the Sixers is not gon win a ring. |
